What are the Pena Palace opening hours?

In 2026 the official opening times and prices page lists one schedule for the park and one for the palace:

Opens Closes Last ticket Last admission
Park 9:00 19:00 18:00 18:00
Palace 9:30 18:30 17:30 18:00

The opening-times page gives the palace’s last admission as both 17:30 and 18:00; the Essential Visit page separates the last ticket (17:30) from the last admission (18:00). Plan on the earlier time to be safe.

Is Pena Palace open every day?

The official pages show one daily schedule and do not list closing days. We could not confirm holiday closures (for example 25 December or 1 January), so check the Official ticket website for your date.

How do the timed slots work?

Every palace ticket carries an entry time. The rules: palace tickets are for one date and entry time; there is no tolerance for delays, you cannot go in early, and a missed slot is not refunded (ticket conditions).

The slot only sets when you walk into the palace. Before and after, you are free in the park until it closes. Since the palace is about 30 minutes uphill from the park entrance, budget that climb into your timing.

Which slot should you pick?

An early slot gives you the rest of the day for the park, the chalet and the town of Sintra below. A late slot works if you arrive from Lisbon after lunch, but leaves less time in the park before 19:00.

How long should you plan?

Plan about 1.5–2 hours for the terraces and the outside, 2.5–3 hours with the palace rooms, longer to explore the park, according to visitor reports. Add the climb from the gate, and more time if you want the Chalet of the Countess of Edla and the High Cross.

For prices see the ticket price guide, and for the trip from Lisbon the getting there guide.
